Blogging to make money online seems to have become the new online dream or pie in the sky job. Many people believe that you can type up a few words and add a new blog post every day and you will be rich. Why not, we have all seen those problogger sites where they went from being nobody to being blogger famous.

Before you start your new blog there are a few things to keep in mind about becoming a rich and famous blogger. Most of those pros took one year or longer at blogging to make any money from it. Sure you might be able to get a dollars here and there, but it will take time to get readers and page rank for your blog. If you don't know what page rank is - find out. If you are prepared to blog for the long haul and willing to do some blog promotion or spend money on advertising then go ahead and try blogging for cash.

You must learn to properly SEO your blog and get lots of traffic to your blog. There are many ways to get free blog traffic, but because it is free it more than likely means that you will have to do some work. You might have to write some articles and submit them. To get more traffic to your blog you should go to others blogs with a similar niche or theme and make relevant comments. There are also some good and free traffic exchanges out there, again you will need to work at this to get anywhere.

I tell you that you will need to work and blogging for cash will take time, not because I want to discourage you, but because I want you to know the truth. Most bloggers who want to make money with their blog will give up after just three months, if they make it that far they may again become bored or frustrated with no cash flow and give up after six months of blogging.

One way of persevering and making a lasting blog is to pick a niche that you will enjoy writing about day in and day out. Make sure you have many different topics in that niche to blog about. You will also need to ask yourself if enough people online will want to read what you are posting about. Then start your blog and post daily, seo it properly and get lots of traffic and you will be well on your way to making money online with a blog.

Blogging is not a fast money maker, not at the beginning at least.   You must have read about how these pro-bloggers make an extremely nice full-time income from blogging and thought that would be nice for you too.

What is the blogging appeal?
For most blogging represents the ultimate freedom.  Freedom of speech, to say whatever the heck you want to say, go on a rant for ten minutes and have someone read your stuff.  Blogging full-time could mean that you get to fire your boss or quit that job that you hate.  The appeal of spending time helping others with your knowledge of a hobby or some other information you possess.  Blogging can mean so many different things to so many people.

Why do I blog?
Short Answer:  I would love to find a way to make money online and be able to share exactly what I have done with others so that they can follow my blogging blueprint and have their own success.  Long Answer:  It is basically the same as above just much more long winded and I just don't have it in me to go on and on right now.   If I wasn't a blogger, I would never be able to get away with that last sentence, but this is a blog and I can do whatever I please, now that's freedom.

I recently read a blog post over at Problogger called,  "How to Make $30,000 a year Blogging."  posted by Darren Rowse.

The basis of the article was to realize what your money goals for your blog are, and then focus on trying to break that amount into monthly or daily goals so it does not seem too far out of reach.  My goal is to be making $300.00 a month in 6 months time.  Right now with only a little traffic that amount of money seems unattainable in that time frame. 

If I break down that monthly goal into a daily goal, I will only need to earn $10.00 a day from my blogging efforts.  Well - ten dollars a day does not seem like all that much.  Don't get me wrong it will take time to get to that point but breaking down the larger amounts of money into smaller amounts, it just appears to be more manageable.

So now I am going to focus on trying to earn just $1.00 a day.  That one dollar a day is not much but with a new blog it certainly would not be bad either.  Every little bit will add up and once I reach the $1 goal then I can move on to $5 and then to $10.

By breaking my money making goals down into smaller more easily handled chunks I can focus on the smaller more easily reachable goals and not give up so quickly because I am no where near my intended goal.

If you are looking to get those amazingly huge checks from Google by putting Adsense Ads on your blog, well good luck.  There are a few things that you can do though to increase your Adsense earnings.  

You may have been wondering about those programs that supposedly show you how to earn hundreds from Google each and every day for very little work.  Those get rich quick schemes forget to tell you that they have set up hundreds of blogs or websites and have the maximum amount of Google Ads on all of them and little else of value.

Many people who stop by to read my blog may wonder why I am using blogger's blogspot to host my money making blog.  There are a few simple reasons I use the Google Blogger blogspot for the blog My Blogging Fortune and we will get to those later.

You may have read other blogs that are on a .com domain and thought that maybe you need to get your own domain name.  Well you are certainly welcome to and you may get indexed in the search engines faster than many blogs and you might get more traffic because you look more professional.  But getting your own domain is not necessary.  There are several big names who are making big money who simply use blogs by Blogspot or Wordpress. 

Why even use Blogger as my money making blogs provider?  Many of the - How to make money with a blog writers will tell you that you have to use Wordpress to have a successful money making blog.  Well I tell you that is not so.  You can use a Blogger blog and make just as much money if not more.

Why I recommend Blogger Blogspot Blogs:

• So easy a Caveman could do it.  Blogger is seriously easy!  

• It is free to set up a blog; free need I say more?

• Blogger is run by Google so Google Adsense is right there available for the blog, you just need to sign up under the monetize tab and you can have Google ads making you money in no time.

•  Now they also have Amazon Affiliates so you can set that up and recommend stuff from Amazon and get a percentage of those sales.

• You will get some of Blogspot or Blogger traffic for free just for being on their network.

If your blog gets too many readers and needs more bandwidth don't worry you can always switch it to a .com.  The blogger system has it set up so you can easily change over and you get your domain through GoDaddy for only $10  and the Blogpot domain will forward all of your readers to your new domain name.  Seamless and simple.

So you can see that you don't actually need your own website to make money blogging!

Note:  Make sure you back everything up somewhere.  Blogger could decide that you violated something in their Terms of Service or the agreement you have with them.  Then they can shut your site down - then inform you and you don't want to lose everything.  Get into the habit of saving either daily or weekly.

This blog: My Blogging Fortune is a money making blog.  With this blog I will be giving you tips on how to make money with your blog.  I also want to make money with my blog and know that after years of trial and failure that this blog will not fail.  I cannot let it fail and I won't let it fail.

Day 7 - My Blogging Fortune Challenge

Day 7 of my money making blog challenge.

Well it has been one full week since I have started my blog.  I have learned so much in just one week about making money online.  I already new somethings from a few years ago but the Internet is always changing and I was not keeping up.  Now that I am a little more up to speed my blog will certainly have much better results than if I tried using tactics that worked 5 years ago.

What did I do on Day 7 to Make Money with my Blog?

• Put up a privacy policy - was supposed to have this before, oops. 
• Made 1 anchor text link with my key words.
• Re-wrote one of my blog posts and will publish the article at GoArticles. 

 Again not much was done today but the potential outcome of the article and it's back-links is exciting.   I know that in order to make money online with my blog I am going to have to get more links all over the Internet.

The best free way to accomplish getting back links is to publish articles and have a link that points to your article.  Many website owners are looking for content and they don't have the time or the skill to write a properly SEO article related to their keywords so they will use others articles.

That is where your article comes in handy because those webmasters who want content will come looking and they will find yours.  Then when they post the article on their site or blog you get a link from their site to your blog.  Instant backlink and Google likes these, so what ever they like we also like and want more of them.  The more articles the better.

What I have accomplished with my money making blog in one week:

• I have some great links all over the web, about 20 links and more will follow.
• Wrote and published 2 articles that will give me backlinks to my blog.
• Pinged my blog
• Submitted blog to blogging directory and search engines.
• Made a money making blog business plan and goals.
• Submitted blog at 2 Blog Carnival magazines.

 Here is what has not happened yet:  I have not made any money yet, and I say yet because I know that it will come with time.  Only a handful of visitors, but I know that will grow too.  Still not indexed in the major search engines - Yet!

It's Day 6 and I have been trying to do all I can to get more traffic to my blog.  Been doing research on how to get free traffic to my site.  I have also learned about many interesting free traffic ideas that I want to try in the future.

• Submitted a post to 2 Blog Carnival Publishing Magazines 

 Just found out what a Blog Carnival is when I jumped on the opportunity to get more traffic to my blog.  I am not sure what the results will be, but I am expecting great results. 

Day 5 - My Blogging Fortune Challenge

Day 5 of my Blogging Fortune Challenge - Weekend Slow Down


It's Day 5 and we have the weekend, Valentine's Day and a migraine.  So not much work got accomplished on the blog today.

But here is what did happen:
Still frustrated with Technorati because it has been three whole days (I'm Impatient) they have found my blog and it is under review.  I don't want to ping my blog again because I have their code in one post and I don't want that showing up anywhere else.   I just want it added to their blog directory so I can get some more blog traffic which = more money!


What did I do on Day 5 to Make Money with my Blog?

•  Placed  4  New Links to my Blog around the Internet 
• Started an article to put up on Ezine Articles 

That was it, but at least I did something.  I would have liked to had one more link to make it 5 links a day because my blog needs the link love.

As I was doing more research to get tons of traffic to my  blog so I can make more money I came upon this site where they were offering a free chapter of their ebook. 

The ebook is Blog Dynamite

They claim that you can start a profitable blog within six days and to  Transform Your Blog Into An Explosive Profit Machine.  Well who doesn't want to make money from their blog in just 6 days?

So I signed up to read a free chapter of the Blog Dynamite sent to my email in the form of a PDF.  It was pretty standard sign up and I had to confirm the email to get the ebook chapter sent to me.

The first module or chapter of Blog Dynamite was only a few pages long, but they can't give everything away for free now can they.  If you have never blogged before then you will want to sign up to get this first chapter of the digital book for free.  There is some valuable info that you might want to read about.

Day 4 - My Blogging Fortune Challenge

Day 4 of my Blogging Fortune Challenge - Burnt out So Soon?

OK, it is only Day 4 of my blogging challenge.  I'm not lazy honestly but I have a ton of other projects going on at the same time and this blog seems to be stressing me out.  I can't afford to fail again.

I was searching to find out how many blog posts are acceptable.  At this point I am not sure that it even really matters if I post something once a day or three times a day.  It seemed that some people were split down the middle on this question.

Some thought that once a day blog posting was just the right amount so that their subscribers wouldn't get too far behind or miss out on something because they were blogging too often.  Eventually it is my goal to get readers to subscribe to my blogs RSS feed but that is probably not going to happen anytime soon.

Others were for posting multiple times a day even past 20 posts.  Well if you were trying to cover the 2010 Winter Olympics with scores then you might need to update your blog that often.  Their thoughts were the more blog posts we have the more traffic we will get, makes sense.

For my blog I think once or twice a day at least at the beginning is appropriate.  I just want to do what is right to maximize my blogs money making potential.

Day 3 - My Blogging Fortune Challenge

Day 3 of my Blogging Fortune Challenge and here is what I am doing. 


I realized something about my blogging habits today.  I have never had a blog that has gotten past 50 blog posts.  I don't know if I get bored or frustrated that the money is not poring in right away.  I also know that none of my blogs have lasted a mere 6 months before I give up.

From experience on other sites I know that making money on the Internet requires some hard work and time.  So I am going to try to do everything I can remember to make a blog successful and actually put in a little bit of time and hard work to accomplish that.  I am also going to give it time.

I have set some goals for my blog.  
In order to make money or make my blogging fortune I will...

• Make at least 100 Blog Posts
• Work to get more Traffic to my Blog
• Continue my Challenge for 6 months

Day 2 - My Blogging Fortune Challenge

Day 2 of my Blogging Fortune Challenge and here is what I am doing. 

I am not happy with the blogger template that I am using, it has a problem and is taking to long to load.  I don't have the time to fix that now so I will remedy it later.

So now I am going to practice what I preach.  Going to try to use the traffic ideas to get my own traffic to this money making blog.

Day 1 of my Blogging Fortune Journey

On day 1 of my Blogging Fortune Challenge here are some of the things I have done to set up my blog to make a fortune in cash.

How I Set up my Blog for Profit

I have gotten a blogger template but I am not sure if this will be permanent or not but I like it for now.

Changed around the templates a little bit and added a few links to some informational ebooks that I want to use to make money with this blog.

I added Google Adscense to the blog for even more money making potential for my money making blog.  I was already signed up and have Google Adscense on some of my other non perfoming blogs.  Well I currently make from $5 to $10 with Adscense ads but I want to multiply that amount by 100. 

I also added a Twitter and Facebook share widget to my blog so others can share this blog which translates to more free traffic for me.

Added Google Analytics which will take a day or longer to get any results from my blog.   This will enable me to track my traffic to the blog: how many visitors, where they are from, how they get to the blog, and which search engine and keywords they are using to find the blog.

I also added a short description to the heading - My Blogging Adventure to Make Money by Blogging.

All of these things took me less than an hour to set up.  This day one will probably be the day when I spend the most time working on this blog.  Writing blog posts takes a much shorter amount of time.  So hopefully soon I will be making a great amount of money for my blogging efforts.

Next I am going to add some posts about making money with your blog to add search-able content that will rank higher in the search engines.
